Pride Build

What are we doing? Austin Habitat for Humanity is bringing together a collective of LGBT organizations to sponsor and build a community in Austin, TX. This collective will come together to fundraise as a community.

What is the financial commitment? It’s up to you! It costs Austin Habitat $85,000 for the materials necessary to build a home. We therefore always encourage collectives to set their goals at this level. However, you can see our different Sponsorship levels here. The members of this LGBT collective will each commit to a portion of the fundraising goal for the 2015 PRIDE Build (eg. 10 LGBT Organizations at $8,500 would collectively share “Street Sponsorship” Benefits).

Who are we building for? The PRIDE Build will work with up to 9 partner families. Each Habitat partner family pays a zero-interest mortgage, property taxes, and puts in 300 hours of “sweat equity” labor on Habitat communities before moving into their own home. Austin Habitat sets your Central Texas neighbors up for a successful future by providing affordable housing to hard-working, local families and individuals. We encourage you to be a part of the united LGBT community as we work together to build a better Austin.

Why should you participate? Aside from the benefits listed on our sponsorship matrix, and the amazing work that you will be putting in to drastically change the lives of up to 9 Habitat partner families, you will be a part of strengthening the LGBT community. Working together towards a common goal breeds support, community, and momentum for companies, organizations, and the LGBT community as a whole.

When can you start? We aim to begin fundraising for the PRIDE build in the Summer of 2014, giving all participating factions around a year to collaborate and support each other through special events, portions of proceeds, and individual fundraising. All events will be posted on the Austin Habitat website, facilitating our community and fundraising efforts.
